WOODZ charms fans with 'Raining in Manila' cover in PH Show
Korean artist WOODZ (real name Cho Seung-youn) delighted Filipino fans during his Manila concert by performing “Raining in Manila,” the hit song by Lola Amour.
WOODZ brought his “Archive. 1” World Tour to the country on May 2 at the New Frontier Theater, drawing thousands of fans eager to see him live.
“You guys know this song, right?” he asked the crowd, sparking loud cheers before launching into his rendition of “Raining in Manila,” which was originally released by Lola Amour in 2023.
The OPM track has become a favorite among visiting K-pop artists performing in the Philippines. BamBam of GOT7 previously sang it during his “Area 52” world tour stop in Manila in September 2023, while Chanyeol performed the song twice at his “City-scape” tour in the city in October 2024.
WOODZ kicked off the night with a high-energy opening set, performing “Bloodline,” “Downtown,” “Dirt on My Leather,” “Dayfly,” and “NA NA NA,” immediately setting the tone for the concert.
He kept the momentum going with fan favorites such as “Love Me Harder,” “Glass,” “I’ll Never Love Again,” “Drowning,” “Cinema,” “Different,” “Plastic,” and “NOID,” showcasing his range as both a vocalist and performer.
The setlist continued with “To My January,” “The Spark,” “Amnesia,” “Busted,” “Smashing Concrete,” “Who Knows,” “00:30,” “Stop That,” “I Hate You,” “Bump Bump,” and “Stray,” giving fans a full experience of his discography.
The concert marked WOODZ’s long-awaited return to Manila, nearly three years after his “Oo-Li” world tour stop in June 2023. He enlisted in the South Korean military in January 2024 and was discharged in July last year.
The Philippines holds a special place in the singer’s heart. As a student, he spent a year at Reedley International School, where he first began to dream of becoming a singer.
“When I lived in the Philippines, my dream was to become a singer,” he shared in 2023.
He also fondly recalled his school days as one of his most memorable experiences, saying it allowed him to meet friends from different countries and immerse himself in diverse cultures.
