Pagadian City mayor launches gubernatorial bid

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Pagadian City Mayor Samuel Co is running for governor of the province of Zamboanga del Sur in the May 2028 elections.

Co announced his candidacy in a press conference over the weekend and revealed possible congressional candidates – Pagadian Councilor Roger Acedillo for the first district and Kumalarang Mayor Balong Molina for second district.

Co is up against Gov. Divina Yu if she seeks re-election. Divina replaced husband Victor, governor from 2019 to 2025.

Victor, a former congressman, ran for mayor of Pagadian in 2025, but lost to Co.
