BACOLOD CITY – A 22-year-old man died after he was struck in the head with a wooden stick embedded with nails by his neighbor in Sitio Agtatahor II, Barangay Macasilao, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Saturday, May 2.
Investigation said the victim Ed and the 19-year-old suspect Boy, a neighbor, were on their way home from a drinking session when a heated argument erupted.
The altercation escalated into a fistfight where the suspect took the weapon and struck the victim repeatedly on the head. The victim was declared dead in a hospital.
A barangay official reported the incident to the police on Sunday, May 3.
Police Capt. Jesus Alba, Calatrava police chief, said the victim and the suspect would usually argue whenever they are drunk.
The suspect fled and arrested by authorities in a follow-up operation. Boy is detained at the Calatrava police station and faces appropriate cases.
