CEBU CITY – The province of Bohol welcomed the first direct charter flight from Japan.
Carrying 163 Japanese tourists, Cebu Pacific flight 5J8811 arrived at Bohol-Panglao International Airport from Narita International Airport on May 2.
Gov. Aris Aumentado was on hand during the arrival and said the development is expected to strengthen international connectivity and open more opportunities for Bohol’s tourism industry and local economy.
“We warmly welcomed the direct chartered flight from Japan. This is a significant move to strengthen our international relations and a big opportunity to strengthen our tourism,” Aumentado said.
Aumentado said the province has been aiming for more direct international flights.
The flight was welcomed with a traditional water cannon salute upon arrival. It was chartered by JTB Asia Pacific Corp.
Aumentado was joined in the arrival ceremony by Japanese Consul General Yudai Ueno who highlighted the strong ties between Japan and Bohol.
