DAVAO CITY – Baptist church leaders nationwide on Monday, May 4, expressed support for Vice President Sara Duterte amid ongoing political issues involving her.
In a manifesto presented to PPP party-list Rep. Harold Duterte, 75 Pilgrim Bible Baptist churches and affiliated congregations in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, said they fully support the Duterte family, especially the Vice President.
They opposed corruption and support calls for accountability, especially over alleged issues in public projects and government spending.
They specifically cited concerns over alleged irregularities in flood control projects and other public issues raised by Duterte.
The group also said the Vice President has remained "unperturbed and unbowed" despite what they described as political attacks against her.
They added that they are praying for Vice President Duterte's safety, strength, and stability as she continues to face political challenges.
The religious leaders stressed that Manila Rep. Benny Abante, who is also a pastor, does not speak on behalf of their community, particularly on issues involving the Vice President.
The group delivered the manifesto to the office of Rep. Duterte. Several pastors raised clenched fists when they met Rep. Duterte in solidarity with the Vice President.
