ILOILO CITY—Police are investigating the deaths of 13 dogs owned by a couple in San Miguel, Iloilo last week.
The San Miguel Municipal Station has yet to identify any suspect in the incident in Barangay San Jose last April 29.
Initial information said the dogs were most likely killed by a neighbor.
An aluminum food tray with a blue liquid substance was found in the area. The substance was believed to have fatally poisoned the dogs.
The Regional Forensic Unit (RFU) of the Police Regional Office-6 is conducting an investigation and has yet to release the results.
The killing of dogs is a violation of Republic Act No. 8485 or the Animal Welfare Act of 1998.
San Miguel Mayor Bonifacio “Boning” Salapantan Jr. condemned the killings that earned widespread rebuke online.
