Gwyn Dorado scores big win in 'Famous Singers Need a Hit Song'
Filipino singing sensation Gwyn Dorado has claimed first place on Netflix Korea’s reality music show “Famous Singers Need a Hit Song,” marking a major milestone in her rising international career.
The 21-year-old artist, currently based in South Korea, impressed both judges and audiences throughout the competition.
The show featured six standout contestants from “Sing Again 4”: Gwyn Dorado, Lee Oh Wook, Kim Jaemin, Slowly, Seodo, and Kyuri.
Running from February to May on Netflix Korea, the 20-episode series evaluated contestants based on music performance metrics. Rankings were determined through a combination of streaming scores (80%) from major Korean platforms Melon and Genie, and lyric video views on YouTube (20%).
For the competition, Dorado performed the song “Purple Love (Barney),” produced by renowned Korean music producer Code Kunst, who also served as a judge during “Sing Again 4.”
During the finale held on May 2, Dorado emerged as the grand winner. She received 20 million won (approximately P830,000) as funding for a music tour, along with a plane ticket to Rome.
Lee Oh Wook, the winner of “Sing Again 4,” placed second, while Seodo secured third place. Kyuri, Kim Jaemin, and Slowly finished in fourth to sixth places, respectively.
Earlier this year, in March, Dorado returned to the Philippines to perform at the “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions” event. The competition was organized by the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. The event took place at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila and was attended by South Korea’s First Lady Kim Hea Kyung as a special guest.
