The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Saturday, May 2, launched a manhunt for the man who robbed a female commuter at the EDSA–Quezon Avenue footbridge in Barangay Pinyahan, after she shared the incident on social media.
The incident happened on April 24, around 10 p.m., when the woman was threatened with a sharp object by an unidentified man while crossing the footbridge. The suspect fled with about P18,000 in cash and the victim’s identification cards.
Authorities said the victim initially did not immediately report the crime due to work constraints but later raised the matter with local officials and posted it online to warn others and prevent possible misuse of her IDs.
Police quickly verified the social media post, which led to her formal statement at Kamuning Police Station 10.
QCPD operatives are now reviewing CCTV footage and profiling the suspect as part of follow-up operations to recover the stolen items and make an arrest.
Police also reminded the public to promptly report crime incidents to authorities through emergency hotlines such as E911 and QC Helpline 122, and to verify crime-related posts before sharing them online.
