Weather experts advised local authorities in Mindanao and most part of the Visayas for the possible adverse effects of rains and thunderstorms as a result of the easterlies.
Easterlies are warm, moist winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean towards the Philippines and other tropical areas and often bringing hot, humid weather and isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
In the weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), it said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will also affect Sorsogon, Masbate, and Palawan in Luzon.
Pagasa said flooding and landslides are the possible effects as the easterlies may bring moderate to at times heavy rains in the affected areas/
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, are expected to experience cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms
Pagasa also warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms in the metropolis and other areas in Luzon.

Among the areas with high heat index at least until Sunday are Pasay City; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City and Batac in Ilocos Norte; Dagupan City; Bacnotan, La Union; Appari and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan; Baler and Casiguran, Aurora; Camiling and Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac City; and, Virac, Catanduanes.
