Ed Sheeran debuts buzz cut, says he's entering a season of 'new beginnings'

British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeransurprised fans with a dramatic change in appearance, unveiling a buzz cut on social media and signaling what he describes as a fresh chapter in his life.
The singer, known for his signature ginger curls, posted his new look on Instagram, where he confirmed the transformation and hinted at personal changes behind the scenes.
“Yeah, I’ve shaved my hair,” Sheeran wrote. “A lot of new beginnings in my life atm.” He added that he is enjoying the change and may keep the style for a while.
Alongside the new look, Sheeran also opened up about recent personal updates, revealing that he had recovered from shingles. He shared glimpses of his downtime, including spending time with DJ Martin Garrix, watching the hit series "Stranger Things," and reading the novel "Demon Copperhead," offering fans a rare look into his off-stage life.
Despite the health setback, the singer also gave fans something to look forward to, confirming his return to touring with additional dates added to the Latin American leg of his upcoming shows.
“So excited to come back and play for you there, some of my favorite countries and cities to play shows in, it's been too long,” he said.
The buzz cut and candid update come after a busy period in Sheeran’s career, following the release of his 2025 album "Play," which features tracks such as “Azizam” and “Sapphire.” The album continued his streak of global pop success and reinforced his reputation as one of the world’s most streamed artists.
Sheeran has also recently reflected on milestones from his earlier catalog, including the 10th anniversary of his hit “Tenerife Sea,” which he marked in 2024 with a special performance aboard a boat on the Tenerife Sea itself.
