Dagupan's rich lechon-making tradition featured anew in Lechonan ed Barangay

DAGUPAN CITY – Barangay Lasip Chico, the Lechon Capital of Dagupan, hosted the much-anticipated “Lechonan ed Barangay Year 4” showcasing this city’s rich lechon-making tradition on Saturday, May 2, at Jech’s Parking Lot on Old De Venecia Highway here.
The event featured 22 lechons or roasted pigs prepared by 20 skilled lechoneros (cooks specializing in roasting whole pigs).
Mayor Belen Fernandez, together with Councilor Joey Tamayo and Barangay Captain Aldwin Dexter Meneses, graced the event and cited the quality of lechon served.
A lechon costs between ₱15,000 and ₱18,000, with a 60-kilogram pig yielding around 30 kilograms of roasted lechon.
Lechon is widely available in stalls on De Venecia Highway. There are estimated 100 lechoneros here.
