Abra cop killed, partner, child hurt in car crash

BANGUED, Abra – A police corporal assigned to this province was killed and his partner and their child were injured after their pickup truck crashed into a tree on Thursday afternoon in Barangay Pamutic, Pidigan, Abra.

Police identified the fatality as Police Corporal Stephen Dao-ines.

Investigation said that Dao-ines was driving towards this town when the right rear tire of the vehicle blew out. He lost control of the vehicle which slammed into a gmelina tree on the roadside.

Dao-ines died on the spot due to head injuries.

His partner, Police Corporal Maricel Abalos, and their child, who was seated in the back, were taken to a hospital.

Dao-ines, of Tadian, Mountain Province, was assigned to the 2nd Abra Provincial Mobile Force Company. Abalos is assigned to the Bangued Municipal Police Station.

The Abra 2nd PMFC mourned the death of Dao-ines.

“Police Corporal Dao-ines was more than just a fellow officer; he was a friend who brought joy to those around him, a dedicated professional who stood firm in duty, and a public servant who put the welfare of others before his own. His warmth, wit, and unwavering commitment have touched so many lives, and his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts,” they said.
