Retail veteran Bosch-Ong to exit Wilcon Depot after four decades
Rosemarie Bosch-Ong
Home improvement giant Wilcon Depot Inc. announced that its longtime operations chief Rosemarie Bosch-Ong will retire this year, marking the end of a four-decade tenure that saw the company transform from a local supplier into a dominant retail powerhouse.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Friday, April 30, the retailer founded by billionaire William Belo reported that Bosch-Ong will step down from her roles as senior executive vice president and chief operating officer effective June 15, 2026.
Bosch-Ong’s departure concludes a career that began in the early 1980s, during which she became one of the most recognizable figures in the Philippine retail and construction industries.
Bosch-Ong joined the firm’s predecessor, Wilcon Builders Supply Inc., as a purchasing manager in 1983. She rose through the ranks during the company's aggressive expansion period, serving as executive vice president for sales and marketing for nearly 20 years before assuming the COO role in 2007.
Under her operational leadership, Wilcon pursued a massive nationwide rollout of its “big-box” store format, successfully navigating a public listing in 2017.
Her influence extended beyond the company’s internal operations. Bosch-Ong maintained a high profile in the broader business community, serving in leadership capacities for the Philippine Retailers Association and the Philippine Contractors Association.
She also remains a trustee of the Women Business Council Philippines and chairs the trade committee of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Beyond her corporate duties, she has led the Wilcon Builders Foundation Inc. as president since 2008.
Wilcon has not yet named a direct successor for the COO post.
Bosch-Ong was an economics graduate from the University of the East who later earned her MBA from De La Salle University.
