Matty Juniosa has secured another major international milestone after being cast in the upcoming West End staging of "Jesus Christ Superstar" at the iconic London Palladium.
The production of the celebrated rock opera by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber is scheduled to run from June 20 to Sept. 5, with Juniosa set to portray Annas.
The full company was unveiled through the musical’s official social media channels on April 30, confirming Juniosa’s inclusion in the highly anticipated cast lineup for the London run.
He joins a company that includes Bob Harms as Caiaphas, Billy Nevers as Simon and alternate Judas, and Phil King as Peter, among others.
Juniosa’s talent agency, BBA Management, also celebrated the announcement, expressing excitement over his latest theater achievement.
The casting drew enthusiastic reactions from the Filipino theater community, with fellow performers and fans flooding social media with congratulatory messages.
It's not his first.
His West End casting comes amid a breakout year, recently advancing to the finals of "Britain's Got Talent" after earning his second Golden Buzzer during the semifinals performing Aerosmith's "Dream On."
He had earlier earned his first Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell for his rendition of Prince's "Purple Rain" during auditions.
Headlining the West End revival is Sam Ryder as Jesus, alongside Tyrone Huntley as Judas Iscariot.
