Financial assistance service for ex-Moro fighters, senior citizens goes digital
The dream of long-term peace and genuine government assistance that they fought for is now gradually turning into reality.
Former More fighters with permanently disability, as well as senior citizens, will soon access the financial assistance through an automated teller machine (ATM) that the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) leaders worked to install.
BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, in an online post, said the move is intended to make the process of distributing assistance faster, direct, transparent and more impactful to all their constituents.
The ATM machine will be installed within the BARMM compound and was part of the agreement with the Philippine Veterans Bank (PVB) in support of the Section 5 of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 57 under the Mujahideen Under Special Circumstances.
The provision is for the financial assistance to former Moro fighter with permanent disability and senior citizens as part of the peace agreement signed to finally put an end to decades-long armed conflict in central and western parts of Mindanao.
BARMM officials welcomed the collaboration, noting that the installation of the ATM and the streamlined disbursement service will ease the process for beneficiaries and strengthen institutional support for the Mujahideen under special circumstances.
“This partnership reflects our shared mission to serve communities with dignity and efficiency, especially those who have contributed greatly to our nation’s history,” said Veterans Bank President Eulogio Catabran III. “
“By bringing banking services closer to the beneficiaries, we are helping ensure that financial aid reaches them securely and on time,” he added.
