SN Aboitiz Power delivers record clean energy in 2025
SN Aboitiz Power Group, the leading Philippine renewable energy producer, generated 1.72 terawatt-hours of clean electricity last year, driven by high plant reliability and focus on expanding its green energy portfolio.
In a statement, the company, a joint venture between Aboitiz Power Corp. and Norway’s Scatec ASA, reported an availability factor of 95.2 percent for the year, exceeding the global hydropower average of approximately 81 percent and an improvement from the 93 percent availability rate recorded in 2024.
Safety metrics also remained a cornerstone of the group’s performance. SNAP reported more than 10.8 million safe man-hours with zero lost-time injuries across its various project sites.
Joseph Yu, SNAP Group president and chief executive officer, attributed the year’s output to a disciplined focus on sustainable and safe operational practices, which enabled the delivery of reliable renewable supply to the grid.
Yu said sustainability is the core of the group's operations, focusing on the long-term viability of assets and creating measurable impacts for local communities and the environment.
Beyond power generation, the company intensified its environmental and social governance initiatives. SNAP rehabilitated 23.7 hectares of watershed areas and planted 39,500 seedlings in 2025.
These reforestation efforts are part of its PUNLA program and the broader Aboitiz Group’s A-Park initiative, conducted in partnership with local government units and indigenous peoples’ organizations.
To ensure the longevity of these areas, the company maintained its Adopt-a-Watershed Program, which employs community-based monitoring, patrols, and fireline establishment to protect forest cover.
On the social front, SNAP allocated ₱36 million toward corporate social responsibility investments. The capital supported a range of programs including infrastructure, education, and health services across its host communities.
Notable projects included a solar power and connectivity installation for a remote school in Benguet, completed in coordination with the Aboitiz Foundation.
The group also maintained its BRIGHTS tertiary scholarship program, supporting 45 active scholars during the year. Since its inception, the initiative has seen 60 graduates complete their degrees, including 12 new scholars added in the 2025 cycle.
Looking ahead, SNAP is moving to diversify its technology mix. The company is currently pursuing battery energy storage systems at its Magat, Binga, and Ambuklao facilities.
It is also advancing plans for its first commercial-scale floating solar project on the Magat reservoir, signaling a strategic shift to maximize the utility of its existing hydropower assets while hitting its ESG targets.
