The surviving children of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) agents killed in line of duty can now be assured of quality education with Arellano University providing educational grants in a memorandum of agreement (MOA) forged with the agency.
Under the agreement, the scholarship program will also benefit children of personnel who have been permanently incapacitated, as well as those who passed away due to natural or accidental causes.
“Selected qualified personnel will likewise be eligible for the program,’’ the PDEA said.
The five-year agreement grants full or 100 percent scholarship coverage across all seven campuses of Arellano University in Metro Manila.
The program supports students in elementary, secondary, and tertiary levels, including the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP).
A 50 percent discount is also offered to PDEA members enrolled in graduate and master’s programs, supporting their continued professional growth and academic advancement.
PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez said the partnership “reflects our unwavering commitment to the welfare of our personnel and their families, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.”
By securing access to quality education, Nerez said that the agency helps ensure that their children are given opportunities to build a better future.
In expressing gratitude to Arellano University, Nerez noted that the initiative not only honors the PDEA agents’ legacy but also provides meaningful support to their families.
“It significantly eases the financial burden of education and serves as a strong morale boost for our personnel,” he pointed out.
The MOA renewal reaffirms PDEA's vital partnership with an academic institution, strengthening the Agency’s commitment to providing sustained educational support for the dependents of fallen personnel.
Nerez and Arellano University chairman and president Francisco Cayco formalized the signing of the agreement during the recent simple rites at the PDEA National headquarters.
