GOSSIP GIRL: My real-life secrets to feeling 30 again

Published Apr 30, 2026 04:18 pm
I just celebrated my birthday last May 4 in Rosa Bistro Manila with my celebrity best friend Ina Raymundo. The food was so good that my BFF Ina and I could not help but do a second round in the buffet table for some lamb kabsa which was probably mind-boggling to some, knowing that we are middle aged moms who look like we do not eat and take Ozempic or Mounjaro like other celebrities (Nope, we do not).
Moreover, people often do a double take when Ina and I tell people that we are in our fifties.
“No way—you look like you’re in your 30s!” they say.
We smile, say thank you, and silently give credit to consistency, discipline, and a few habits we have built over the years.
So, let us help you crack the aging code:
1. Let me start with the obvious: movement is non-negotiable. Ina is incredibly disciplined—she works out two hours a day. As for me, I keep it simpler but consistent. I walk immediately after eating. Research shows that even a short walk after meals helps regulate blood sugar, improves digestion, and reduces fat storage. It doesn’t have to be long—10 to 15 minutes already makes a difference. And for those who can’t walk right away, there’s a fascinating alternative: activating the soleus muscle. This muscle, located in the calf, can be engaged even while seated through specific heel-raising movements. Studies suggest it plays a powerful role in blood sugar regulation.

2. Another ritual I swear by is body tapping, especially when I wake up. I focus on what’s called the “big six” lymphatic drainage areas: the neck, armpits, chest, abdomen, groin, and back of the knees. The lymphatic system is like your body’s internal cleaning crew—it removes toxins, waste, and excess fluid. Unlike the circulatory system, it doesn’t have a pump, so it relies on movement and stimulation. By tapping these key areas, I help “wake up” my lymphatic flow. When your lymph moves well, you reduce bloating, strengthen immunity, and yes—you even look more sculpted and refreshed.
3. Now here’s something fun: I trampoline for 10 minutes a day. Yes, a mini trampoline! It’s not just child’s play. Rebounding, as it’s called, is known to stimulate lymphatic drainage, improve balance, strengthen muscles, and boost cardiovascular health—all while being gentle on the joints. It’s one of the most efficient exercises you can do in a short amount of time.
4. Hydration is another pillar of my routine—but I do it mindfully. I drink plenty of water with a pinch of salt. This helps maintain proper electrolyte balance, which supports muscle function, hydration at the cellular level, and overall energy.
But here’s the key: sip, don’t chug. Drinking too much water too quickly can strain your kidneys. Slow, steady hydration is the goal.
At the end of the day, there’s no magic pill. It’s about showing up for your body every single day. Small habits, done consistently, create real transformation. That’s the real secret.
