TACLOBAN CITY – Police Col. Celerino Sacro Jr., newly appointed Leyte Police Provincial Office (LPPO) director, led a surprise drug test for provincial staff, special personnel, commanders of the provincial mobile force companies (PMFCs), and police chiefs in Leyte on Tuesday, April 28.
“I am here to lead a disciplined, drug-free, accountable, and principled police force. I ask for your full support in upholding the dignity of our organization and embracing our long-standing commitment to serve and protect. Let us honor the badge and the uniform we wear,” Sacro said.
“By starting with a surprise drug test, we send a clear message that discipline begins within our ranks. Leyteños deserve a police force that is credible, trustworthy, and firm in its duty to serve and protect,” he added.
Sacro conducted his first command conference as Leyte police chief where unit reports on accomplishments and peace and order situation were presented. An oversight review was carried out to assess performance and identify areas for improvement in police service delivery.
He emphasized strict adherence to command responsibility, accountability, and zero tolerance for any personnel, regardless of rank, who make mistakes.
Sacro directed strict compliance with police operational procedures (POP) and reminded personnel to always do what is right, maintain full professionalism, and avoid involvement in illegal activities, directly or indirectly.
He called for increased collaboration with local government units (LGUs) to bring police services closer to the community.
