The four-member K-pop boy band CIX will conclude its group activities after seven years, following the expiration of the members’ exclusive contracts with C9 Entertainment.
In a statement released April 29, C9 Entertainment confirmed that the group’s team activities will come to an end, marking a significant transition for the act that debuted on July 21, 2019.
“Since their debut, CIX has spent the past seven years sharing many moments with fans through a wide range of activities,” the agency said, before adding that “the group will be bringing its team activities to a close.”
The company said it had engaged in extensive discussions with the members in recent months regarding the future of the group.
“After careful consideration, all parties have come to agree that, under the current circumstances, it is unavoidable to suspend operations as a team,” the agency added.
The announcement effectively signals the end of CIX’s group promotions, though no further details were immediately provided regarding the members’ individual plans.
The agency said, “Both the members and the company feel deep regret over this decision, as we have always approached every aspect of ClX–from music and choreography to video, performances, and broadcasts–with genuine dedication.”
The exclusive contracts of members BX and Seunghun will end on April 30 while Yonghee will enlist in the military on May 11 and his contract will end on the day he enters the military camp.
Hyunsuk’s contract will expire on May 31.
“Accordingy, the exclusive contracts of members BX and Seunghun will conclude as of April 30. In addition, member Yonghee, following the decision to suspend team activities, has applied for voluntary military enlistment. He will enter a training center on May 11, complete basic military training, and fulfill his duty as an active-duty soldier in the Army. His exclusive contract will end upon enlistment, and there will be no official event on the day of his entry,” the agency said.
It added, “However, we are preparing a small gathering where fans can say their farewells to Yonghee prior to his enlistment Further details will be shared via a later notice on the official fan cafe.”
“Member Hyunsuk is currently focusing on filming a drama, and the company is providing full support for his related activities. His exclusive contract is scheduled to conclude on May 31,” it explained.
The agency said, “We kindly ask for your warm support and encouragement for the members as they move forward in new environments and pursue their individual paths. The company will also continue making meaningful efforts, including maintaining communication with the members, so that the name CIX may one day return to you with its unique music.
