Chinese Filipino Business Club partners with Valenzuela authorities on safety programs

The Chinese Filipino Business Club, Inc. (CFBCI) met with Valenzuela City police and fire officials on Wednesday, April 22, to strengthen coordination on public safety, fire prevention, and community programs.
During a courtesy call with Valenzuela police chief Col. Joseph Talento, discussions focused on operational challenges and ongoing safety initiatives.
Talento cited manpower constraints, noting that 667 officers serve a population of over 830,000, resulting in a police-to-population ratio of about 1:1,284, higher than the ideal 1:500.
He said the police are using technology such as high-frequency radios equipped with cameras and GPS to improve monitoring and operations.
Discussions also covered the stricter enforcement of local ordinances under the government’s Safer Cities initiative.
In a separate meeting, CFBCI also met with Valenzuela Fire Marshal FSupt. Ma. Theresa Alqueza, where discussions focused on fire safety compliance among businesses.
Alqueza said the city has around 20,000 commercial establishments, all encouraged to comply with fire safety standards and prevention regulations.
She warned that non-compliance increases the risk of fire incidents and property damage, and urged businesses to include fire safety provisions in their lease agreements.
CFBCI expressed support for these efforts and committed to working with local authorities to promote safety and community welfare.
Both sides agreed to continue strengthening collaboration between the business sector and government agencies in Valenzuela City.
The courtesy call was led by CFBCI President Gerald Uy Chan, joined by Executive Vice President Paul Yeung, Trade and Commerce Committee Vice Chairman Mason Ang, Welfare Committee Vice Chairman Eduardo Tan, and Organizational Committee Vice Chairman Robert Ong Jr.
