Davao City is the Philippines’ top travel destination for the second straight year, travel and destination guide World Travel Index said in its April 2026 report.
The city posted an improved score of 75.66 from strong performance in infrastructure, affordability, tourism experience, and overall visitor satisfaction.
The WTI noted Davao City’s reputation as one of the country's safest urban centers that boosted appeal to both local and international travelers.
The Davao City Tourism Operations Office attributed the recognition to the continued support of tourism and hospitality stakeholders, partners, and the local community, which helped enhance the city's tourism landscape.
In a statement on Tuesday, the CTOO thanked travelers for choosing Davao City as part of their journeys and reaffirmed commitment to delivering quality visitor experiences.
The CTOO said the recognition strengthens efforts to further develop tourism programs and services, as the city aims to maintain its standing as a leading destination in the country.
The Davao City Police Office welcomed the recognition.
DCPO Director Police Col. Peter Madria said the recognition highlights Davao City’s reputation as a premier destination where progress, hospitality, and security go hand-in-hand.
The DCPO noted that the city’s natural attractions and tourism assets continue to draw local and international visitors, strengthening its position as a leading destination in the country.
These include Mount Apo, Samal Island’s beaches, eco-tourism sites, parks, fresh tropical produce, and the Philippine Eagle Center, which collectively contribute to Davao City’s growing appeal.
Madria described the recognition as a source of pride for residents and an assurance to visitors that Davao City remains a safe place to travel, explore, and conduct business.
The DCPO reaffirmed their commitment to maintain peace and order through stronger police visibility, intelligence-based operations, crime prevention, and coordination with barangays and stakeholders.
He added that the achievement was the result of collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the local government, private institutions, tourism stakeholders, and the community.
Madria said they will continue strengthening security programs and public safety initiatives to preserve Davao City’s standing as one of the safest and most welcoming destinations in the country.
