DAVAO CITY – Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte claimed on Tuesday, April 28, that he is under surveillance like a VIP (Very Important Person) here.
“VIP na pala ako? Lahat na lang yata ng mga operatives ay sinusundan ako sa Davao. I feel safe, may security backup na ako,” Duterte said in a Facebook post.
(Am I a VIP? Operatives have been following me in Davao. I feel safe, I already have a security backup)
The lawmaker added that operatives were planning to visit his house again and asked when the visit would be so he could prepare.
Duterte cited the vehicles allegedly being used and told operatives not to use a Land Cruiser and consider electric vehicles instead.
“To the tough operatives, next time, do not use a Land Cruiser. I feel sorry for the one you borrowed it from – fuel costs are expensive. Use an EV instead," Duterte said.
He said that their surveillance appeared so dedicated that they seem more updated on his schedule than his own staff.
Duterte said that if authorities intend to enter his home, they should not waste time and paperwork and invited them over for food.
The lawmaker assured that he would provide coffee, bibingka, suman, siopao, and ketchup, for a VIP treatment, and would not serve certain local dishes.
"And if this is indeed an investigation, it appears I am the most closely monitored individual in the entire country. I wish everyone had the same experience," he said.
Duterte did not identify the operatives or specify which agency was conducting surveillance.
Authorities have yet to comment on his claims.
