Estrada said this, citing official records of the Senate’s Legislative Budget Research and Monitoring Office (LBRMO) that was reportedly submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman.
"This is on record. This is the truth. Hindi ako natitinag sa aking paninindigan para sa transparency at accountability—lalo na sa pagtupad ko sa aking tungkulin bilang lingkod-bayan (I remain steadfast in my commitment to transparency and accountability—especially in fulfilling my duty as a public servant)," he said.
Estrada stated that from the very beginning, when this controversy surrounding the alleged questionable flood control projects surfaced, he has been consistent—and have repeatedly maintained—that the accusations against him are baseless, reckless, and utterly unsupported by any credible evidence.
Estrada also added that he has been an active participant in the Senate investigation on this matter because he knows, without any doubt, that his conscience is clear.
"Ginampanan ko lamang ang aking tungkulin bilang senador, alinsunod sa Konstitusyon—na busisiin ang pambansang badyet at maglatag ng mga mungkahi sa pag-amyenda ng ilang probisyon na, sa aking pananaw, ay nararapat at naaayon sa kapakanan at interes ng ating mga kababayan (I merely carried out my duty as a senator, in accordance with the Constitution—to scrutinize the national budget and to propose amendments to certain provisions which, in my view, are necessary and aligned with the welfare and interests of our people)," he said.
