The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday, April 28, clarified the status of passports issued to Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co, confirming that two of his travel documents were cancelled in December 2025 by virtue of a court order and subsequently reported to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
In a statement, the DFA said the cancelled documents include one regular passport and one diplomatic passport, both invalidated following legal directives.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs wishes to clarify the matter regarding Mr. Elizaldy S. Co. The Department cancelled one regular and one diplomatic passport by virtue of a court order in December 2025,” the DFA said. “This was immediately reported to INTERPOL,” it added.
Court-ordered cancellation, international alert
According to the DFA, the cancellation was carried out in compliance with a Philippine court order issued in December 2025.
The department added that the action was immediately communicated to Interpol, ensuring that international law enforcement authorities were informed of the status of Co’s travel documents.
The move effectively rendered the passports unusable for international travel and flagged the individual in global monitoring systems.
Expired passport not valid for travel
The DFA also addressed reports that Co may have used another Philippine passport—already expired in September 2022—to travel between European countries, specifically from the Czech Republic to Germany.
The department emphasized that this passport no longer required cancellation, as its expiration automatically rendered it invalid for international use.
“With regard to his other regular passport, which expired in September 2022 and which may have been used by Mr. Co to cross to Germany from the Czech Republic, this need not be cancelled since its expiration rendered it unusable for international travel,” the DFA said.
Ongoing clarifications
The DFA issued the clarification amid public interest and circulating reports regarding Co’s alleged movements abroad.
The department did not provide further details on the circumstances of the court order or Co’s current whereabouts.
