A tour with the nubia Neo 5 GT

Published Apr 28, 2026 08:19 am
nubia has locked in becoming a go-to gaming phone for the mobile space. The release of the nubia Neo 5 Pro, which we’ve recently reviewed, is only the first step in shaping the next generation of gamers. And now, we have the bigger sibling, the nubia Neo 5 GT, and this one is nubia’s beast unleashed.
The nubia Neo 5 GT is sleeker than the Neo 5, has a finer trim, and feels nicer to hold overall. The camera has no bumps in the rear, giving it a small flat back, harkening to the olden days when smartphones had some sense of symmetry.
The 6210mAh battery is already impressive on its own, this is further adorned when coupled with built-in cooling fans located at both sides of the device. This would mean lower temperature when gaming, and lower heat would mean the battery would last longer while gaming, even with 5G enabled. You can actually see the cooling fans on both sides of the phone. For added flavor, the top side of the cooling fan has a red light, matching the signature red power button.
Straight from the box, the nubia 5 GT comes fully packed. It contains a case and a cable. But more than that, it comes with its own set of earbuds, which is a big bonus.
It has the same Light Strip that nubia has been priding itself with. Users can customize the Light Strip for added personalization, and letting them know what kind of notification they are getting whenever they place the phone face down.
nubia has gone all-out with the display, bringing in a 1.5K AMOLED screen with 144Hz, making it one of the brightest and most responsive screens there are right now.
On the one side of the nubia Neo 5 GT are the two Neo Triggers 5.0 with 550Hz. These effectively act as your shoulder buttons. They are fully mappable, allowing you to free up some screen space and make it easier to access certain commands. They are fast and responsive when touched.
The front camera features 16MP, which captures impressive photos and videos. The rear comes out as a pair, one 50MP and one 2MP for depth. As we’ve always pointed out, many smartphones today ship out with decent cameras with an image quality that you would feel proud of sharing. The nubia Neo 5 GT is no different. It’s also speedier and processes images much faster than its little sibling, the Neo 5 5G.
Included in the Neo series is Demi, nubia’s AI partner. They call it “AI Copilot,” and it’s designed to coach while playing, answer questions, and read messages and respond on your behalf. If those are features you like or find intriguing, then it’s always there for you to try out.
nubia has carved out a nice slice of the market. The Neo series is a name that has rapidly grown and nubia has stepped on the pedal. They are not messing around and are hungry to climb up, the nubia Neo 5 GT is a testament to this.
