So young... Two Makati Sangguniang Kabataan chairs suspended for dishonesty, corruption-related cases

Two barangay chairpersons of Sangguniang Kabataan in Makati City were suspended for dishonesty and other corruption-related allegations raised against them, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said on Monday, April 27.
In a press briefing, DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla revealed that the first case involved the SK chairperson of Barangay Dasmariñas Village who allegedly demanded a 20 percent “kickback’’ from the owner of a catering services for the barangay’s Halloween party celebration.
The incident was confirmed by the exchange of messages between the SK chairperson and the owner of the catering services.
The DILG has recommended that the SK chair be charged criminally with direct bribery and violation of Republic Act (RA) 3019 for demanding payment “kickback".
The second case involved the SK chairperson of Barangay Magallanes who was accused of falsifying the signature of an SK councilor.
