BACOLOD CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) chief, said they are investigating a police officer assigned to this highly-urbanized city for allegedly protecting cigarette smuggling in Negros Island.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla, during his visit to Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, April 24, revealed that the policeman is under custody and subject to further investigation.
Ibay stressed that they remain firm in enforcing discipline among personnel and have zero tolerance for any involvement in illegal activities.
He warned that any member found to have violated laws, rules, or ethical standards will face appropriate administrative and criminal charges.
“The PRO-NIR remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and preserving the trust and confidence of the public,” Ibay said.
