Bacolod City police deploys 10 electric vehicles for patrol operations

BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is transitioning to a lower carbon footprint and a cost-effective fleet with the deployment of electric vehicles (EVs) to its 10 police stations.
The EVs, procured by the city government for P14 million, were turned over by Mayor Greg Gasataya to BCPO Director Police Col. Eugene Rebadomia at the Bacolod City Government Center grounds on Monday.
"By transitioning to an electric fleet, we are effectively equipping and modernizing our peace and order operations," Gasataya said in a statement.
The 10 EVs will be deployed to enhance police visibility, improve response times, boost operational efficiency, and substantially reduce fuel consumption.
"Our uniformed personnel will remain mobile and visible while we reduce the burden of fuel costs. We continue to support law enforcement towards a safer and more cost-effective city," Gasataya said.
Each unit delivers 201 horsepower and a maximum driving range of 490 kilometers.
With 63.2 kWh battery power, the vehicle can be fully charged from five to seven hours, sufficient to sustain an entire day of patrol operations.
It is also equipped with 360-degree cameras and sensors, keyless entry, front and side curtain airbags, and AC/DC charging capability, ensuring reliability and protection for personnel in the field.
In a statement, the BCPO welcomed "a new chapter for the city police in embracing technology and electric-operated patrol vehicles."
"These more advanced mobility equipment can level up the need of police visibility, yet not relying on unstable petroleum products," it added.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) thanked the city government for their steadfast support.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR chief, said that these modern electric vehicles will significantly strengthen patrol efficiency and ensure a faster and more responsive approach to incidents here.
Ibay said they are committed to maximize the utilization of these assets to ensure heightened police presence, intensify crime prevention efforts, and reinforce public trust.
