ILOILO CITY – More than 8,500 teachers and principals in Western Visayas were officially promoted in an oath-taking witnessed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos in Roxas City, Capiz, on Monday, April 27.
The mass oath-taking presided over by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara officially promoted a total of 8,566 teachers and school heads under the Expanded Career Progression (ECP) System.
“This moment is about dignity in your profession, clarity in your path, and momentum in your careers,” President Marcos said during the ceremony at Villareal Stadium.
Iloilo had the highest number of promotions at more than 2,900 – 2,005 under DepEd-Iloilo province; 618 in DepEd-Iloilo City, and 264 under DepEd-Passi City.
Second was Capiz with more than 2,600 promotions – 2,191 under DepEd-Capiz and 423 under DepEd-Roxas City; 2,467 in Aklan, 444 in Guimaras, and 154 in Antique.
The ECP has promoted 80,000 teachers and school heads nationwide from August 2025 to April 2026.
The oath-taking was held more than a week after Roxas City hosted the DepEd National Festival of Talents (NFOT).
