Las Piñas City rolled out a P5,000 fuel lifeline for 2,300 tricycle and jeepney drivers on April 25, staging a special payout to make sure no one was left behind.
Mayor April Aguilar said the distribution at the Aguilar Sports Complex targeted those who missed the first round, guaranteeing all qualified drivers got their share of the aid.
Aguilar said that each qualified driver received P5,000 in cash assistance, providing timely relief as fuel prices continue to rise and impact their daily earnings.
The initiative was carried out through the joint efforts of the Department of Social Welfare and Development–NCR (DSWD-NCR) and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), headed by Ms. Lowefe Romulo.
The mayor highlighted that the payout was conducted in a smooth, orderly, and efficient manner, with beneficiaries accommodated inside a comfortable, air-conditioned venue—allowing drivers to claim their assistance with ease and convenience.
Aguilar also said that to further streamline the process, an on-site help desk was set up to immediately address concerns, assist with documentation issues, and guide beneficiaries—replicating the effective system implemented in previous payout activities.
Aguilar emphasized that the program is part of the city government’s sustained efforts to support transport workers, one of the sectors most affected by the continuous surge in fuel costs.
