BACOLOD CITY – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) paid their last respects to Police Master Sgt. Romulo Galvez Jr. who was laid to rest on Sunday, April 26, more than two weeks after he was killed in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Singcang-Airport here on April 9.
The BCPO rendered a 21-gun salute and provided full honors in recognition of his service during his interment at Forest Lake Memorial Park in Barangay Sum-ag here.
The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) also paid tribute to Galvez.
“His comrades remember him not only as a dependable officer but as a brother in service, one who inspired others through his humility, professionalism, and steadfast resolve,” the PRO-NIR said.
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and PNP chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. visited the wake of Galvez in Barangay Dulao, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, April 24.
Remulla condoled with the Galvez family and cited his courage, dedication, and selfless commitment. He assured the Galvez family of the government’s continued support.
Galvez was shot dead by a 32-year-old suspected drug pusher who later died in a hospital.
Police have yet to reveal the cause of the suspect’s death as his family can only secure a copy of the death certificate.
