The system is seen to reduce energy consumption by 15 percent and used to satisfy electricity requirements, including lighting and shared facilities. This is also part of SMDC’s broader effort in sustainable management of residential sites.
“Sustainability becomes more meaningful when people actually experience it in their daily lives,” said SMDC Vice President and head of Design, Innovation, and Strategy Jessica Bianca Sy.
“Bringing this to Iloilo is a step towards making that experience more inclusive so more communities can benefit from how we design and operate our developments,” Sy added.
The project is part of SMDC’s partnership with Buskowitz Energy launched in October 2025.
“This energization demonstrates how renewable energy can be seamlessly integrated into residential developments and scaled beyond major urban centers,” said Buskowitz Energy founder and Chief Executive Officer James Carlos P. Buskowitz.
“Projects like Style Residences show that solar solutions can support everyday operations efficiently, while helping communities transition to more sustainable energy use,” Buskowitz added.
SMDC has four solar energy projects with Buskowitz Energy, one in Iloilo and three in Metro Manila.
Also present during the switch-on ceremony were SMDC Senior Vice President Erickberth N. Calupe, SMDC Vice President Susan G. Nicdao, and Buskowitz Energy Vice President Henry Layug.
