BUTUAN CITY – The Butuan City Water District (BCWD) announced the schedule of water rationing starting Saturday as the utility’s water supply continued to dip due to the absence of rain since last week.
The BCWD said that as of Saturday, it was operating at 39.81 million liters per day (MLD), far below its normal supply of 56.5 MLD.
The water from its bulk supplier, the Taguibo Aquatech Solutions Corp. (TASC), located in Sitio Iyao, Barangay Anticala, has significantly decreased and can no longer provide enough water for its affected concessionaires.
“This situation is caused by the prolonged hot weather and minimal rainfall in the area. As a result of the decreased water supply, the entire BCWD service area may experience low to no water pressure,” it said in its advisory.
Each affected barangay, it added, will have designated distribution points where water tankers will deliver and dispense water.
Water rationing will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the BCWD advised residents that actual tanker arrival and operation times may vary.
“We urge our concessionaires to refer to the BCWD Tanker Monitoring link posted on our official Facebook page for schedules,” it said.
A total of seven tanker trucks will take part in the rationing at specified stations in designated barangays, mostly at barangay halls, public markets, puroks, and subdivisions.
“The BCWD strongly urges all concessionaires to conserve water. Residents are advised to coordinate with their respective barangays, which will assist in the distribution process,” the water utility said.
It added that daily updates will be posted on its official Facebook page while dry season conditions persist. (PNA)
