PRESENTATION of the 2025 economic report of Western Visayas. (PSA-6)
ILOILO CITY – Western Visayas posted a Gross Domestic Regional Product (GRDP) of P683.44 billion in 2025.
The Philippines Statistics Authority (PSA) recorded an economic growth rate of 6.4 percent in the region comprising Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces as well as the regional capital of Iloilo City.
PSA-6 Regional Director Nelida Amolar said in a report released Thursday, April 23, that Western Visayas surpassed the 4.4 percent national growth rate.
The GRDP of Western Visayas, the eighth largest economy in the country, is constantly increasing.
It increased by P40.97 billion to P683.44 billion in 2025 from P642.47 billion in 2024 and P68.15 billion from P615.29 billion in 2023.
The services sector contributed the most to the economic growth of Western Visayas at 66.5 percent. The industry sector was the second biggest contributor at 18.6 percent. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF) were the third biggest contributor at 14.9 percent.
The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development-6 welcomed the latest economic figures.
“The 2025 performance confirms that Western Visayas is not only growing faster, but also growing more inclusively,” said DepDev-6 Director Arecio Casing Jr.
“This is reinforcing the need to sustain employment generation and protect gains in poverty reduction,” added Casing.
