DAVAO CITY – Davao City Vice Mayor Rodrigo S. Duterte II paid tribute to court stenographers on Thursday afternoon, April 23, highlighting their often unseen but critical role in safeguarding the integrity of the justice system.
Duterte welcomed delegates of the 10th National Convention, General Assembly, and Election of National Officers of the Court Stenographers Association of the Philippines to Davao City and acknowledged their continued commitment to public service.
The vice mayor emphasized the importance of stenographers in ensuring that court proceedings are accurately recorded and preserved, describing them as essential contributors to the administration of justice.
“As public servants in the Judiciary, you play a crucial role in the administration of justice,” Duterte said, noting that their work helps protect rights, maintain transparency in legal proceedings, and ensure that the justice system remains accessible and reliable.
Duterte said that although their duties are often performed behind the scenes, court stenographers serve as the backbone of accurate court records, which are vital to fair and credible judicial outcomes.
The vice mayor commended COSTRAPHIL for promoting professionalism, integrity, and continuous learning among its members, especially as the Judiciary adapts to technological changes under the Strategic Plan for Judicial Innovations.
He described the convention as more than a formal assembly, calling it a venue for collaboration, professional growth, and renewed commitment to ethical public service. Duterte thanked organizers and resource speakers for sharing insights on emerging practices in the field.
“Let this convention further inspire everyone to continue upholding accountability, integrity, and commitment to preserving justice in the years to come,” Duterte said, as he urged delegates to remain steadfast in their responsibilities.
The event brings together court stenographers from across the country, serving as a platform to strengthen the profession and reinforce its role in the justice system.
