The Manila City Library (MCL) has expanded its collection with the addition of books and academic journals from Ateneo de Manila University, providing the public with greater access to research and literary works.
The newly turned-over materials include titles from Ateneo Press, covering fiction, poetry, and scholarly publications that were previously more accessible within academic institutions.
The initial donation consists of nearly 100 journal copies spanning disciplines such as the humanities, cultural studies, social sciences, and sustainability.
Among the titles included are Perspectives in the Arts and Humanities Asia, Budhi: A Journal of Ideas of Culture, Social Transformations: Journal of Management for Global Sustainability, and Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints.
MCL said the addition is expected to support students, researchers, and regular library users seeking credible and in-depth reading materials.
The initiative also strengthens the role of the Manila City Library as a public learning space, allowing more readers to access studies and publications that are often confined to universities.
The partnership reflects a shared effort to make education more inclusive by bringing academic resources closer to communities.
The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to broaden access to scholarly work and foster greater public engagement with research.
