Davison and Dy anchored the team’s offense, combining for 33 of the team’s 66 kills as the High Speed Hitters swept their best-of-three series with the Foxies following a similar 22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 26-28, 15-11 Game 1 victory two days back.
PLDT coach Rald Ricafort credited his stalwarts’ mental toughness particularly in the crucial stretch of the match.
“Coming from Tuesday game, ni-remind na lang namin sa kanila na magiging mental game na lang yung Game 2 kasi wala na kaming time to prepare. Mas importante na mahabol namin yung fatigue na mawala para sa game today,” said Ricarfort.
“At least kahit papano nagbunga, especially sa mga crucial stretch, na-execute namin nang tama, lalo na sa fifth set,” he added.
The bronze-medal feat was PLDT’s best finish in the All-Filipino after previously reaching only in the semis in 2023.
Dy paced the High Speed Hitters with 21 points as she also took charge of their net defense by posting six blocks. Davison finished with 20 points on top of 10 digs.
Kiesha Bedonia also made her presence felt when it mattered most, firing 15 points, while Kim Fajardo was also instrumental in the team finishing on a high note, delivering 32 excellent sets.
After failing to close out the match early in the fourth set, PLDT quickly regrouped entering the deciding fifth, pulling away from a 2-all deadlock to a comfortable 7-2 and 12-4 cushion before Dy sealed the match with a hard-hitting spike.
Trisha Tubu sizzled with 23 points even as Ces Molina added 12, but their efforts for Farm Fresh went futile.
Still, it was the Foxies' franchise best-finish after having placed fifth in the 2024 Invitational and the 2024-25 Reinforced Conference.
