Parañaque's young learners are set to step into their classrooms this June with brand-new uniforms and shoes -- free from the city government.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the city government has already started measuring pupils from Kinder to Grade 6. Each child will receive two sets of uniforms and a pair of shoes before classes open on June 8.
The move slashed a big chunk off parents' back-to-school bills, letting families spend on food, transport, and supplies instead.
Backed by City Ordinance No. 29, Series of 2025, authored by Councilor Pablo “Pao” Olivarez II and approved by the City Council, the program ensures no child is left behind.
Beyond financial relief, the mayor emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of equality and pride among students.
Olivarez said that by providing free uniforms and shoes, the city government ensure that every child can come to school feeling confident, prepared, and proud.
Teachers and parents alike welcomed the initiative, noting that proper school attire not only boosts students’ self-esteem but also encourages regular attendance and participation in class.
