Quezon City police seized more than P1.36 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation on Tomas Morato Avenue on April 22, resulting in the arrest of two Manila residents.
Operatives of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU), Kamuning Police Station (PS 10), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency–NCR carried out the operation in Barangay Sacred Heart following a tip from a concerned citizen on alleged drug activity in the area.
Authorities identified the suspects as alias Ronnie, 22, and alias John, 24, who were arrested at around 8:45 p.m. in front of a restaurant at the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue and SCT Limbaga Street.
Based on police reports, an undercover operative purchased about P451,000 worth of suspected shabu from alias Ronnie before a pre-arranged signal led to the arrest of the two suspects.
Recovered from them were approximately 257.46 grams of suspected shabu valued at P1,364,538, along with the marked buy-bust money.
Also seized were a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, cellular phones, and a brown envelope.
Investigators said alias Ronnie had been arrested for violating Presidential Decree 1602 or the Anti-Gambling Law.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
QCPD PBGen. Randy Glenn Silvio said anti-illegal drug operations will continue to be intensified, urging the public to report suspicious activities through E911 or QC Helpline 122 for immediate police response.
