Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said residents can expect stronger flood prevention efforts as the city government rolled out newly procured heavy equipment to intensify its environmental and clearing operations.
Aguilar unveiled a brand-new excavator and payloader -- massive reinforcements in the city’s battle against rising waters and clogged waterways -- during the turnover ceremony.
She said the excavator will be deployed for dredging and desilting operations in 18 waterways and two major rivers across Las Piñas.
Aguilar said that for many residents living near creeks and riverbanks, the project will bring renewed hope.
She said that silt and garbage have contributed to frequent flooding, disrupting daily life and damaging homes. With the new equipment, the city aims to speed up clearing operations and prevent waterways from overflowing.
The city government said that the payloader will be used to support clearing operations, including the removal of debris, illegal obstructions, and waste materials that clog drainage systems.
The mayor emphasized that investing in modern equipment is a proactive step toward protecting communities and ensuring a cleaner, safer environment.
The acquisition of the excavator and payloader, both under CENRO, reflects the city government’s continued commitment to disaster preparedness, environmental protection, and public service.
As the rainy season approaches, the enhanced capability is expected to make a significant difference—turning long-standing flooding concerns into manageable challenges for the people of Las Piñas.
