Filinvest RE unit to switch on 21-MWp solar facility in Misamis Oriental
FDC Green Energy Corp. (FDC Green), a subsidiary of the Gotianun-led Filinvest Group’s utility arm FDC Utilities Inc. (FDCUI), is set to commence commercial operations and deliver power to the Mindanao grid through its solar power project in Misamis Oriental province.
In a statement on Thursday, April 23, FDC Green said it recently secured a certificate of compliance (COC) from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) for its 20.774-megawatt peak (MWp) ground-mounted solar facility in Misamis Oriental, which is projected to generate approximately 30.2 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually.
The solar plant is located within PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Tagoloan town.
According to the energy firm, the issuance of the COC affirms that the facility has met all technical, safety, and regulatory requirements prescribed by the ERC. The milestone marks a significant step in the company’s efforts to provide sustainable power solutions to Mindanao.
FDCUI President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Juan Eugenio L. Roxas said the certificate marks a critical step in bringing the project online, reflecting the company’s commitment to technical and regulatory standards while focusing on efficient energy systems that promote economic growth.
The facility is expected to bolster the capacity of the Mindanao grid at a time when energy security has become a priority due to global market volatility. Roxas noted that the ongoing energy crisis has underscored the need for reliable power solutions, especially as international conflicts impact fuel markets.
The FDC Green Misamis solar power project is a key component of the Filinvest Group’s long-term energy strategy. The company aims to expand its renewable energy (RE) portfolio and deliver solutions that create shared value for its stakeholders through indigenous and sustainable sources.
This project aligns with the broader push for RE in the Philippines, providing a buffer against unpredictable global fuel prices and ensuring a more stable power supply for local industries and communities. - Gabriell Christel Galang
