Blackwater hopes to continue giant-slaying ways vs Ginebra

Blackwater isn’t only gunning for its first win streak of the conference but is also aiming to sustain its giant-slaying ways when it takes on Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, April 24.
The Bossing are riding the crest of their huge 126-120 upset win against the San Miguel Beermen when they clash against the Kings who, on the other hand, are looking to solidify their hold on the Top 4 spot.
Tip-off of the duel is at 7:30 p.m., with the battle between TNT and Macau setting the table in the first game at 5:15 p.m.
Although catching another big fish would certainly be a big boost for Blackwater, head coach Pat Aquino is looking beyond the contest as he hopes to slowly but surely change the culture of the team.
“It’s one part but it's not the one that would get us to the quarterfinals. We need more. We need to work more and I know this is a good start to go with,” said Aquino, who looks to pick up his second win as PBA coach.
“It’s gonna be a hard game for us because it’s back-to-back games against another champion and of course my idol Tim Cone. So you're gonna set something for them to believe what we are doing here and move forward,” he added.
Robert Upshaw III, who had 36 points against SMB, will be at the center of the attack for the Bossing with guys like Sedrick Barefield, Dalph Panopio, Christian David and newly picked up CJ Austria all surely ready to contribute.
They, however, would need their A-games especially against the Kings who will have resident import Justin Brownlee alongside stars like Scottie Thompson, RJ Abarrientos and Stephen Holt.
Ginebra, currently at the third spot with a 5-2 record, for one, is aiming to get a share of the solo second against NLEX, which boasts a 6-2 card, just behind the league pacing Rain or Shine at 7-1.
