Amid ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, April 22, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte declared she is unfazed by the controversy and persistent attacks on her family.
In a conversation with Facebook personality Alvin and Tourism on April 21, Kitty acknowledged the intense criticism directed at the Duterte family, describing it as an “unstoppable attack” that comes with being in politics.

“These unsolicited opinions, everything, the harassment—it’s inevitable,” Kitty said. “My family, most of them are in politics, obviously subject to criticism and scrutiny—it’s always going to be there,” she added.
Despite the mounting issues, Kitty emphasized that she chooses not to dwell on matters beyond her control.
“I don’t have lingering thoughts because, in the first place, I don’t lend energy or time to things that, again, I cannot control,” she added.
Kitty visited former President Rodrigo Duterte a day before the International Criminal Court (ICC) ruled on whether it has jurisdiction over the case against him.
The former president faces charges related to his administration’s anti-drug campaign, including crimes against humanity.
He was arrested in Manila in March 2025 and transferred to The Hague, where he is currently detained at the International Criminal Court’s Scheveningen facility.
The Appeals Chamber is expected to rule on whether the ICC has jurisdiction over the case—a key decision that will determine the next steps in the proceedings.
Duterte family in the political spotlight
Kitty is the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte. Her half-siblings, including Vice President Sara, Paolo and Sebastian, are also involved in politics.
The family has long been a dominant force in government, drawing both strong support and sharp criticism.
Impeachment proceedings intensify
The ICC ruling announcement comes as Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment proceedings continue on April 22, with lawmakers set to examine her financial records.
Members of Congress will review key documents, including her Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALNs), tax filings, and business interests, to assess allegations of undeclared wealth.
The investigation’s outcome could impact Duterte’s political future, as transparency and accountability remain central issues.
Political scrutiny and public reaction
The impeachment case has fueled national debate, focusing on governance, ethics, and public trust.
While critics push for accountability, supporters of the vice president have dismissed the complaints as politically motivated.
For Kitty Duterte, however, the ongoing controversy appears to be part of a familiar reality.
“It’s inevitable,” she reiterated, underscoring her stance of detachment amid the intensifying political storm.
