Radisson RED debuts in Mandaue as Cebu Landmasters expands hospitality push

CLI Hotels and Resorts, the hospitality arm of Visayas-Mindanao (VisMin) developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. (CLI), has finally opened the long-delayed Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue, the first Radisson RED in the Philippines.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Wednesday, April 22, the firm said the ₱1.99-billion development in Mandaue City expands CLI’s hospitality portfolio and introduces a new lifestyle hotel concept to Cebu province’s urban landscape. This is CLI’s fifth operational hotel property.

The hotel supports CLI’s strategy to diversify its portfolio and grow recurring income. The portfolio spans 10 hotels with 1,719 keys, of which 827 rooms are currently operational.

The project was announced as early as 2018 and was supposed to open in 2021, but the Covid-19 pandemic derailed initial plans.

“Bringing Radisson RED to Cebu marks the entry of a globally recognized brand into a market with strong and growing demand,” said Mathias Bergundthal, first vice president for CLI Hotels and Resorts.

He added that, “This reflects our focus on well-located, thoughtfully designed developments that respond to evolving and diverse travel and lifestyle needs.”

Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue joins Citadines Cebu City, lyf Cebu City, The Pad Co Living, and Citadines Bacolod City in CLI’s hospitality portfolio. This supports CLI’s strategy to expand its recurring income base alongside its core residential business.

“We continue to see opportunities to grow our hospitality footprint in key cities across Visayas and Mindanao,” Bergundthal said, adding that “Radisson RED Cebu Mandaue strengthens our presence in the region as we expand our hospitality portfolio alongside urban growth, and we are extending this momentum with upcoming projects including Mercure Cebu Downtown and Citadines Paragon Davao.”

Located within CLI’s Astra Centre, a mixed-use development along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue that includes a lifestyle mall, residential condominium, and office building, the 144-key hotel serves both business and leisure travelers, with convenient access to Cebu IT Park, Cebu Business Park, and Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

The hotel rooms span five categories, from superior and deluxe to suites and family rooms, combining a Cebuano and contemporary aesthetic with practical features such as high-speed connectivity, streaming-enabled TVs, and in-room essentials.

Facilities include OUIBAR+KTCHN, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant; RED Deli for Asian takeaway; and The RED Deck poolside bar for cocktails and bar chow.

The hotel also features a 24-hour fitness center, spa, swimming pool, and flexible event spaces, including The Studio, The Loft, and RED Room. - James A. Loyola
