CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police arrested a senior citizen and recovered suspected shabu valued at P1.4 million during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Villa Kananga here Monday night, April 20.
Butuan police chief Police Col. Restituto P. Lacano Jr. said the 63-year-old suspect was a high-value individual (HVI) in the illegal drugs trade.
“The elderly was completely surprised when our operating units conducted the buy-bust operation,” Lacano said.
Recovered from the suspect were 210 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1.4 million, P10,000 marked money, a cellular phone, a sling bag, a coin purse, and an identification card.
The suspect and pieces of evidence are in the custody of the Butuan City Police Office for proper documentation and disposition.
Meanwhile, another high-value individual was arrested and 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 were seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Banza here on Tuesday night, April 21.
The suspects face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Marijuana valued at P2.2 million was discovered in Bagtok, Kasapa 1, Loreto, Agusan del Sur on April 16.
About 11,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 300 seedlings, with an estimated value of P2.2 million, were destroyed. The cultivator, Gus, is being hunted.
