Leyte launches QGas app to track real-time fuel prices

TACLOBAN CITY – The Leyte provincial government has unveiled the QGas application, a digital system designed to monitor and compare fuel prices across gasoline stations to provide motorists with real-time and reliable data.
The local government presented the application to municipal agriculturists and agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in the province on Wednesday.
Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla introduced the digital platform in response to rising and unpredictable fuel prices, aiming to improve public access to accurate price information.
Claire Maderazo, head of the province’s special projects office, underscored in a phone interview that fuel price volatility remains a pressing concern for the public.
“QGas application would enable users to view updated fuel prices by municipality, promoting transparency and more informed consumer decisions,” Maderazo said.
Under the system, AEWs will collect fuel price data from local gasoline stations to ensure the platform remains current and accurate.
The information will be synchronized with a central database and made accessible to the general public through the official website of the provincial government of Leyte. (PNA)
