'Kamote factory?': LTO revokes license of 12 Metro Manila driving schools
Driving schools are supposed to be partners for road safety but what happens when they become part of the problem?
Their license to operate must be revoked, and this was done by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in the case of 12 driving schools in Metro Manila.
LTO chief Markus Lacanilao said the 12 driving schools are regular recipients of show cause orders (SCO) for various complaints and violations, adding that the decision to revoke the license was done after a review and investigation done by the agency’s Central Accreditation Committee on Driving Schools and Medical Clinics (CAC-DSMC).
“The decision came after a thorough evaluation of their compliance with existing LTO rules and regulations. This means that they will be prohibited from continuing operations as LTO-accredited driving schools,”said Lacanilao.
The violations include misrepresentation in their application or operations, misuse of accreditation, and failure to comply with prescribed requirements and standards set by the LTO.
Lacanilao, said the move is part of the agency’s intensified efforts to uphold the integrity of driver education, “Driver education must remain credible, and we will ensure that only compliant institutions are allowed to operate.
“Ensuring the quality of driving schools is crucial in producing disciplined and responsible motorists,” he added.
