APARRI, Cagayan – Fishing, sailing, and swimming in the sea have been prohibited as this town is hosting Balikatan activities next week.
Mayor Dominador J. Dayag has signed Executive Order No. 2026-034 implementing the prohibitions from April 26 to 27 in the municipal waters and Fuga Island on April 28.
Dayag said this will ensure the safety of residents and avoid disruptions during the joint military exercises between the Armed Forces and international partners.
The order will be enforced by the Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, local disaster response units, and barangay officials.
Authorities said violators may face penalties under existing laws and ordinances.
The municipal government has started informing coastal communities, particularly fisherfolk, about the temporary restrictions through public advisories and coordination with barangay councils.
Officials assured the public that the measure is only temporary and will remain in effect until lifted and the move is part of standard safety protocols during large-scale training activities.
