ILOILO CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has received 18 complaints in Western Visayas for alleged violations of the ‘’anti-epal’’ or attention-seeker policy.
DILG-6 Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero said these have been forwarded to the DILG Central Office in Quezon City.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla issued DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-006 last January barring the name, photo, logo, initials, color motif, slogan, or any identifying symbol of public officials on project signages, markers, tarpaulins, and similar materials funded by public money.
Complaints were filed in Iloilo City and the neighboring town of Pavia and Roxas City.
Ingeniero said the DILG regional office has no authority on the complaints but they were able to act on some of them by directly calling the attention of the local government units (LGUs) which promptly acted.
The DILG-6 found out that majority of LGUs in Western Visayas complied with Remulla’s order.
